Happy Monday! I do not deserve a gold star for my workout week, but that’s okay. Sometimes weeks don’t go as planned and you just have to move on from it!
This weekend I was supposed to be in Nashville with my sister, but after many hours at the airport on Friday our flight was ultimately canceled. We ended up having to cancel the entire trip as they couldn’t reschedule our flights until 24 hours later. Since it was a short trip anyhow, it didn’t make any sense to make it even shorter. Thankfully, Air Canada refunded the flights which was helpful.
All that to say–I spent the weekend at home and couldn’t seem to drag myself out the door for a workout. I also majorly overdid leg day on Wednesday and was in too much pain to run after Thursday’s long run. I learned my lesson though and will definitely be lowering the amount of weight I use for leg workouts until I get stronger!
Here are my few workouts that I did get in–because something is always better than nothing!
Monday, January 8: Rest day which I was very grateful for! I worked really hard the week before (gold star week for me!).
Tuesday, January 9: 10km total with speedwork in the middle of that! I also did a quick shoulder workout.
Wednesday, January 10: Leg Day: squats, lunges, leg press, leg extension, leg curls, sumo squats and side bends–all with weights. Leg day used to be my favourite so I jumped back in with passion and then regretted it for the rest of the week!!
Thursday, January 11: 21km long run. I got up at 4:30 to get this run in and it was painful thanks to leg day. Running this much after Wednesday was probably a terrible idea but hey, too late now! I wrote a little more about Thursday’s run here!
Friday, January 12-Sunday, January 14: Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero. I slept a lot and besides the gummy bears I consumed at the airport, I tried to eat fairly decent.
Here’s to a new week with another chance to do better than last week! How was your workout week?
