Ahh–another Monday; another chance to think about what workouts I did this week! It’s a good thing I had a decent workout week cause I am not feeling motivated on this dreary, rainy Monday AT ALL. The weather sure can’t make up its mind lately, but it is exciting that the sun is starting to set later in the day indicating that winter isn’t going to last forever and spring is coming! Here’s what I got done this week:
Monday, January 14: 30 minutes cardio + back/bicep strength training
Tuesday, January 15: 6km easy run on the treadmill + chest/tricep strength training
Wednesday, January 16: 3.69km run I had a threshold run on my plan and was actually excited to try it, but then it snowed the night before which left a nice covering of snow over icy sidewalks. I slid around and tightened my legs up to try not to fall for 3.69km before I called it quits. I was really bummed cause it was so beautiful out and the temperature was nice, but it was too late in the morning to make it to the gym before Anson needed the car so I just ended up with a short run for the day!
Thursday, January 17: 30 minutes cardio + leg strength training day I went a lot easier than I did last week on my legs which worked out way better!
Friday, January 18: 9.99km total (20 min warm up | 10 x 2:00 with 2:00 recovery | 20 min cooldown) I felt amazing for the first 25 minutes and then crashed. I think I really need to work on my fueling & hydration better. ugh.
Saturday, January 19: Rest day aka best day! We went to see The Darkest Hour and it was awesome. Everyone needs to see this movie!
Sunday, January 20: 15km long slow run I set my alarm to run early but turned it off so ended up having to run in the afternoon when I really wanted to be napping. My heart rate was spiking like crazy, so I walked a considerable amount but I got the distance done.
I’ve been feeling like my running isn’t improving a lot, but I also know it takes a long time to build a decent base before I can allow myself to worry about speed. DO NOT QUIT RUNNING, PEOPLE! It is hard to get it back!
At the same time, I’m trying hard to remember those runs where I feel like I am enjoying every moment because honestly–that’s why I am running. I am not running to win anything; I’m running because I love it! Never forget to enjoy some moment on your run even if it’s just five minutes when your favourite song comes on.
How did your workout week go?
