This week really flew by, didn’t it? Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like Christmas is approaching a lot faster than it should be! As Christmas gets closer, the constant asking of “What do you want for Christmas?” sometimes freaks me out because I never know what I want!
Today, as I searched Amazon for some gift list ideas, it made me think of some things that I already own that I love. Here are four of my current faves:
My friend, Lisa, recommended this book to me earlier this year. She never leads me astray with books, so I bought it without even reading what it was about. I honestly struggled to get started reading this one, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. Knowing that the premise is based on true stories that occur far too often made it a difficult read. Even though it was emotionally hard, it was so worth it. I finished this book in the summer; yet, I haven’t stopped thinking about it. As a Canadian woman, I am so glad I bought this book!
CLEANSING BALM & LIP GLOSS
You probably already know that I love Beautycounter products, but I really hesitated to buy this cleansing balm. I heard great things, blah, blah, blah…. but it costs $94! Yep, that’s right– $94! I couldn’t imagine spending that on some face wash unless it came with actual gold nuggets inside it; but, then I tried it. (tip: never try things you aren’t prepared to buy)
As soon as I tried it I wanted it. It washed my eye makeup off with one wipe and left my entire face feeling so soft. I waited for a little bit and then on October 4th, I ordered it. I have used it every single day for two months now and have maybe used 1/8 of the container. I am guessing that this will last me at least 6 months which means my $94 will actually go pretty far! (That’s less than $16 a month spent on taking care of the largest organ in my body–totally worth it)
I also ordered a Christmas deal of 3 lip glosses in a pack, but this one is my favourite! The colour is Rosewood and it stays on forever. I love the colour but probably my favourite part is the peppermint that is in it. I haven’t used my lip conditioner since this came in the mail because this keeps my lips from getting chapped while giving me some colour. Total win-win! (Unfortunately, this product is sold out right now)
A GOOD CORTADO
Many years ago when I was in Arizona I was introduced to what a cortado is and instantly fell in love.
In case you have no idea what a cortado is, here is Wikipedia’s definition:
A cortado is a Spanish-origin general term for a beverage consisting of either coffee or espresso mixed with a roughly equal amount of warm milk to reduce the acidity. On American specialty coffee menus, the milk in a cortado is usually dense rather than frothy or foamy.
Since my first taste of a cortado, I have seen them on the menu in very few coffee shops. A Van Houtte coffee shop recently opened close to where we live and I was pretty pumped to see this delicious drink on the menu. With a sprinkle of cinnamon on top, I can’t think of a better way to enjoy espresso on a cold winter’s day!
What are some of your current favourites? Maybe I can add them to my Christmas list!
