Hello, world! It’s definitely been awhile since my last post. A lot has happened but I’ll just give you the highlights:
Halloween came and went with J declaring he was finished trick or treating the minute he got a bag of Sour Patch Kids. I tried to be a last minute cat which was actually a lot of fun, especially while eating at Five Guys. I guess adults dressing up isn’t the norm!
The first week of November I went to the Arcade Fire concert with Lisa and Kelly. It was amazing and I am still in awe of how every single person rotated around and swapped instruments (except the violinist!). There are pop stars who lip sync and then there are musicians. Arcade Fire is the real deal!
In the middle of the concert I suddenly didn’t feel so great. I reached into my purse and took a Tylenol and powered through because…. Arcade Fire. When it was over and I sat on the train I started getting that feeling like if I didn’t get off the train ASAP I was going to go insane. (The fact that there was a guy talking loudly about every episode of Friends probably didn’t help!) I just felt…weird!
I slept all night and almost the entire day on Saturday. I was sure I would be up all night Saturday, but nope! I slept all night and then almost all day Sunday. Then I started coughing the kind of cough where you wake your kids in the night and they ask if you’re throwing up in the bathroom. Nope–just coughing over here!
I feel 98% better but I am still coughing sometimes. Every time I try to say that I’m doing great, within ten minutes I go into a coughing fit.
All that to say—I haven’t run in almost three weeks. I was advised to not run with a chest cold or else I would probably make it worse. I went for a 2km walk last week and fell asleep on the couch after, so I know not running was a good call! I am planning on trying a short run today to see how it goes! (I did dream that I ran my first track race though—and got 2nd place between an 86-year-old in 1st and a 60-year-old in 3rd!)
Other than coughing my lungs out, I’ve been reading a lot, probably watching too much Netflix and drinking my coffee black (who am I?!). I also played in an indoor softball tournament which was strange; went to both girls parent-teacher conferences which were fantastic; and won a pair of Mizunos with Running Room.
That’s what’s new in my world! What is happening in yours?
