On Saturday my Ragnar team & I hosted our third and final Float Run sponsored by Reebok! The theme for the run was “Be More Human” which is also one of Reebok’s slogans.
We met at Rotary Park in Ajax at 8:30AM to run 5K. The week prior we had some interest for some kids to come so we added a 1km option for the kids. After Krysten spoke to us about Reebok and their new Floatride shoes, we headed out for our run. (You can purchase these awesome shoes for $180 at select Running Rooms as well as online at Reebok.ca)
Aimee and I ran with J while Chloe dashed ahead with Carmy clocking a 5:36 kilometre with her shoelaces untied the entire time!
J did great but quickly tired out. He requested to please go home before asking to be carried! We took some little breaks to check out the lake, swing him between us and carry him for a minute.
When we got close to the finish line (it was marked in chalk!), Aimee ran ahead to cheer him on while I told him to run ahead. It was so cute to see him run for the finish where he was promised some chocolate milk and donuts!
While the run was amazing, the most important part of the morning was collecting donations for the Denise House in Oshawa, a women’s emergency shelter.
Reebok sent three large boxes of clothes and all the runners brought donations as well. We even had quite a few people stop by to donate that didn’t stay to run. That is what community is about–coming together to help others who need us. I am so grateful to my Ragnar teammates and to Reebok for allowing me to be part of this wonderful event.
Ragnar Relay is in just a few days and I am so excited! I am also nervous, but I think excitement is winning over nerves right now! Later this week I will be sharing how you can follow our team as we run from Cobourg to Niagara Falls this Friday & Saturday! My teammates are all amazing and I am so excited to get to spend so much time with them. (This may change once we are squished in the van for 2 days…!!!!)
