*This post is sponsored by Reebok Canada, but I can’t be anything but honest so all opinions are always my own!
I landed in Toronto on Sunday, April 23 after a long 26 hours of traveling! I woke up Monday morning excited because I was headed to Reebok Canada’s headquarters with some of my Ragnar Relay team!
Reebok has decided to sponsor our Ragnar team and I am truly humbled by this opportunity. Learning more about Reebok and seeing their headquarters was such a wonderful experience. (Plus, their coffee machine is amazing & immediately made me say, “I need to work here!)
I knew I wanted to talk about the Reebok slogan “Better Together,” so I wrote out a few notes and just wanted to share a little of what I spoke about. I know this run in 2016 meant a lot to so many people so I feel like I am speaking for them as well.
My name is Allison & I am captaining a Ragnar Team running Niagara in less than 3 weeks. I have four of my awesome teammates here with me today!
2015 was a bad year for me. We moved a lot the previous couple of years, I lost a lot of friends & I spent most of that year hiding inside fighting depression. When 2016 hit I decided I couldn’t have another year like the one before! I followed a lot of runners from Toronto on social media so when I saw a “fun run” advertised on Facebook, I decided I would show up. My heart was pounding as I walked into Nathan Phillips Square to a group of complete strangers but it wasn’t long until we started running and then talking. I agreed to go to brunch with some of the runners & ended up sitting beside Cathy (who is right there!). Through Cathy, I have gradually met an entire community of runners who have turned into some of my dearest friends. Showing up to that run changed my life & proved to me that one small act of courage really can make a difference!
When I was given the opportunity to represent Reebok, I immediately wanted to know more about the brand! Most brands out there have slogans and messages they like to share but none of them speak to me as clearly as Reebok’s two simple words, “better together.” I used to think that I needed to figure things out by myself. I used to run alone, race alone and try to motivate myself. After that first terrifying group run in 2016 I learned that running doesn’t have to be a solo sport. Running with someone else can help forge a friendship; sometimes it can get us to the finish line of a race & often it’s the only way to motivate us to even get out the door to run at all!
After sharing about myself, I shared more about the Floatrides and why these shoes are great! Let’s be real here–I work part time at a different Running Room. I’ve tried on ALL the shoes & I don’t like a lot of them! When the Floatrides showed up at my door I was nervous but the second I put them on I loved them! They just felt good! They are a neutral shoe with an 8mm drop.
* The Floatride foam that we see on the bottom has a consistent cell structure that delivers the optimal mix of cushioning and responsiveness so you can float through your run.
* The seam free one piece ultraknit upper is engineered to offer support & breathable flexibility. If you’re like me and need a shoe with a wider toe box–this is perfect for you!
* The supportive foam rim centers and balances your foot the entire time you’re running.
The Floatride has 3 distinct parts that all work together seamlessly to create a better running shoe! These shoes sell for $180 and are available at select Running Rooms (Rosedale & Whitby for sure!) as well as online at Reebok.ca
After everyone finished their runs, we had snacks and a gift from Reebok waiting for every runner!
