Oh, Christmas, you are lovely and a whirlwind. How to make this short and sweet? Just kidding! When have I ever tried to do that?! How about too many words followed by too many pictures instead? Yep–that’s what I’ll go with. Obviously, I will begin with the most attractive shot of the holidays… you’re welcome!
Merry Christmas from us at the Christmas Eve service at my sister’s church. J was super well behaved and only shouted, “I’M STUCK!” 5 million times while Anson tried to hold him still during the service. I have no idea what happened the entire service due to the whole my kid is shouting in church embarrassment that comes from having a 2 year old. I was also a very good example to the girls while taking selfies during said service. It was a glorious time together. (You can see that Anson enjoyed himself thoroughly… shouting child did not phase him!)
Christmas Eve after church we usually get together with my sister and this year I made the mistake of asking Anson what we should eat. “Lasagna,” he quickly replied. I jokingly told my sister assuming she would be all,”haha! Let’s just order pizza cuz it’s easy!” BUT SHE WASN’T. Instead she said, “Oh, yes! I love lasagna.” So much for my sneaky plan to get out of that one! I actually make lasagna pretty speedy like, so I ended up easily agreeing. It wasn’t until I was at the mall with Aimee on Christmas Eve that it dawned on me that I actually had to make the lasagnas! Oops! I managed to get them done in record time and possibly left the mess for someone else to clean up. Thanks, Mom (probably…)! We ate dinner after the service and opened new pyjamas and other goodies from my mom. I managed to take two blurry pictures to remember this night…
Christmas morning we opened gifts and again I failed in the Christmas picture taking department. We did get a video of J acting so adorably excited to open his new giant dogs from IKEA (he already has one of them but it’s so flat we got him a replacement!). He was pumped about the dogs until he saw a random hot wheels car that must’ve fallen into the box when I was wrapping his gift. We all died laughing because he was SO thrilled with that car and declared it his favourite. Next year, he gets wrapped up toys he already owns.
Monday I ended up working all day and Aimee went out with my mom for the day. My mom decided to take each of the grandkids out for a day during the break and let them pick out their gift. I think all the kids really enjoyed it! Monday was Aimee’s day and of course, she chose a book! Actually, she chose an entire series as she got a massive book containing all the books in the Chronicles of Narnia series.
Tuesday we headed for London to see my in laws and all the family! We had a blast hanging out and screaming at each other while playing a game. I can’t even remember what it was called, but the premise is that you’re all lying and trying to figure out who is an ally or a spy. So much lying, so much shouting, but mostly there was so much laughing! We stayed over at Anson’s oldest sisters for the night and hung out with her and her family most of Wednesday before we headed home.
Later in the day my mom took us all to Disney on Ice which was very nearly ruined by Aimee’s seat being covered in ketchup. We weren’t early so the lights were out and she couldn’t see anything when she sat down. Soon she was covered in ketchup and literally stuck to her chair wearing her new jeans and new winter coat. She was not impressed and there was nothing we could do until intermission. Once she got mostly cleaned up life was a little better and we all enjoyed the magic of Disney. I’m not a gushy Disney person but I am a huge fan of the company. They do everything first class and it shows!
On Friday, I had to work again and my mom took Chloe out for the day. They went to a pottery place where Chloe made her brother a Marshall dog from Paw Patrol. Typical Chloe to spend her time making something for someone else! She also has a gift certificate to use for some art classes.
New Years Eve was spent watching Rogue One, eating nothing healthy and feeling confused at Mariah Carey attempting to sing…or not sing…or stand on the stage before the ball drop! With that 2016 was over and a new year had begun!
I’m excited for 2017 and all the freshness it brings… if you missed my post yesterday, make sure you check it out here. I’m also excited to share some of my favourite Christmas gifts on Friday so stay tuned!
