Once upon a time, there was a mom who was a very good cook. She always did her best to serve healthy meals that were full of variety. She tried to teach her children to do the same and always said the words, “Clean as you go!” while they worked in the kitchen.
One day, the mom cooked hamburger meat and carefully drained the grease into a glass container before finishing the meal. While she was “cleaning as she went” she put this glass container into the cupboard. (I can only assume she was hoping to keep it out of reach of her family who would maybe pour it down the drain and clog it.) Dinner was served and the evening went on.
The next morning, one of the daughters (probably the favourite one) was making herself some toast and reached into the cupboard to get the butter. She pulled down the white glass butter dish and slathered it liberally onto her toast. She took a giant bite of her toast and immediately gagged as it slid down her throat. WHAT WAS THAT?
Yep, that was grease in the butter dish. The daughter has never forgotten the horrific taste and the mother has never stopped laughing. This was proven just this morning when the daughter checked her mail and received this birthday card!
Thanks for the laugh, Mom! I love you–but I never put the hamburger grease into the butter dish!
