For the first time in a long time, I have exactly zero races in the next six months. I have no idea what race will be my next one, and I’m totally cool with that. I did enter the lottery for the United NYC Half Marathon in March, but the odds I actually get chosen are slim so I’m trying to not get my hopes up!
In my Marathon Recap I said that I wanted to get a better 5k time and also potentially run a sub-2 hour half marathon. I have no idea what those goal races will be and the half one may take me a lot of tries, but that’s okay! My plan is to simply get better with age. (lol!)
My main goal right now is to work on my core. My back is still sore and I HATE that it is when I know I could’ve prevented it by simply not being so dang lazy all the time. I have some great exercises from Michelle so these are going to take top priority. I say that like I’ve been doing them daily since the Marathon…. nope, not even once. Today though–I promise!
I would also like to bust out some old workout DVD’s like Turbo Jam and Insanity to target some different muscles that don’t get a lot of attention when running. I actually enjoy certain videos (Turbo Jam is so fun!) and was just reminded of that on Monday night! I think breaking up my running a little bit during my somewhat of an in limbo season will be good for my brain and also for my body!
I ran 5k yesterday (maybe one of the last shorts weather runs) and my legs felt fine and almost like they could’ve gone faster, but the rest of my body isn’t ready for that. Working JUST my legs hasn’t been the wisest choice, so it’s time to listen to the professionals, do what I’m told and get to work on building an overall stronger me.
