It’s a miracle–I’m back to running and I am loving it! Two of my running pals, Carmy & Cathy, are both coached by Michelle (who just ran a 3:21 at the Ottawa Marathon in steamy hot weather!). Carmy nagged me that I should ask Michelle to help me too, so I did!
Last week was my first week following the schedule she set out for me. I did two easy runs and two interval workouts. I had never done an interval workout, but I have to admit I kinda like them! Pushing myself hard for a short amount of time and then easing off then repeating isn’t necessarily easy, but it gives me something to concentrate on! I also have a love of analyzing splits and paces after I run, so now I have even more numbers to stare at!
If I think about full marathon training I get nervous so I’m glad to have someone to just tell me what to do! I’m sure I will not always be saying kind things about Michelle–especially when she has me running hills–but I am grateful to have her guidance and expertise!
I don’t have any grandiose running plans in my future, but I do want to improve! It would be easier to stay where I am, run races for fun and take pictures along the way; but, honestly, deep down that’s not what I want! I want to be pushed to try harder, be stronger and push deeper–so that’s what I’m striving for!
I watched a video clip of The Great Wall of China Marathon this week and said to myself, “I want to do that someday!” (If I’m honest, I say that about A LOT of things… lol) It really looks terrible and painful, yet I still want to do it (not soon–I would literally die!). Check out this clip–maybe you’ll decide you want to do it with me!! (see if you can spot Pippa Middleton, Princess Kate’s sister, in it!)
For real though–who’s in?!
