I have definitely been skipping out on my Friday Favourites posts lately which is pretty sad! I honestly keep writing down food that I love, but then I keep eating it all and forgetting to take any pictures of it! So here it goes–a long winded Friday Fave’s– with pictures!
Last June, my sister and I did the Nike Women’s 15km race on Toronto Island. It was a ridiculously gross day weather wise, but one of my favourite runs ever. The scenery, the crowds, the extra effort by Nike plus running on the airport runway looking across the water at the city made it a special race! Oh–we also got Tiffany necklaces instead of a medal. Sadly, I never wear that necklace but I do wear this hoodie…every. single. day. No joke. After the race, Cab and I went to the Nike Pavillon because we had heard they had special finisher apparel. They did but it was all pink (I like pink but….) and since it was just a 15k which is the weirdest distance ever for a race, I couldn’t imagine buying something that said finisher on it. Anyhow, I saw this hoodie and decided to try it on and I loved it. It was a total impulse buy but I comment to Anson weekly that it was such a great investment. It is the only sweatshirt I wear and I really hope it lasts forever or I might cry. [The End. That was the longest explaination ever!!]
My mom used to make me eat yogurt as a kid and I have this one memory of standing outside school waiting for the doors to open and trying to gag down this yogurt and granola that I was told to eat for breakfast. My poor mom. I always hated breakfast and did not care how many times she told me it was the most important meal of the day. (I am so chatty today!!! Moving on…) Yogurt was an easy grab but I hated it and eventually quit eating it. It wasn’t until I was pregnant with Jonathan in 2014 that I started eating it again. I had horrible heartburn that made me wake up in the night to throw up and nothing worked. I got prescription meds from the doctor and that didn’t work. I complained on my facebook one night and one of my friends (who is finishing medical school) commented that I should try eating yogurt. I thought it was so weird but I was willing to try anything. I bought a bunch of yogurt and it made a world of difference. I found myself standing by the fridge in the middle of the night scarfing down Greek Yogurt like my life depended on it (it basically did cuz the heartburn was making me insane!). Ever since then I have been eating yogurt! This, however, is my favourite kind–Oikos Raspberry Pomegranate. I eat one a day and hide them from my children cuz they ain’t cheap! Aren’t you so proud, Mom!?
My cousin sells DoTerra essential oils and other products and is really into all-natural products. I am not an all-natural person (if you are–that’s great; but I probably never will be!), BUT I have been struggling to find a deodorant that actually works. I had tried a bunch of different kinds and they either did nothing at all or they seemed to make me sweat even more (which is exactly the opposite of what I was going for!). I asked Suz to make me some of her homemade stuff and I have to say I am impressed. I went for an 11km run yesterday and when I finished I could still smell the deodorant and not my body odour!
