Yesterday, I forgot to blog. I decided when I started blogging that I would post daily except for Saturdays…and apparently an occasional Monday, it seems!
We had a good weekend, though. Sunday was Valentines Day, but I honestly can’t remember the last time we celebrated. I do remember one time when we were dating, I got roses of all different colours with a letter explaining what each colour was for. I also got a watch that year. That is the only Valentines Day I recall us celebrating.
After we got engaged, my dad was going to perform our wedding ceremony and since he was the busiest, we consulted his calendar for choosing our wedding date. He said he had one free Saturday in February; one in March and one in July. We chose the first one and got married in February. Our anniversary is next week so we have always opted to celebrate that instead of Valentines Day!
So, on Valentines Day, we went to church and then went on the hunt for a new breakfast place. (We love going for brunch but ever since we started going to Angeliques in Ajax, nothing has quite compared. Seriously–if you’re in Durham Region–go to Angeliques! It is down by the lake in Ajax, the food is great and you get a TON of it for less than anywhere else!) Anyhow, so after church, I opened up Yelp and started searching. We had seen a couple places near where we live now and decided to drive to one. We made it in the front door before we turned around and left because it smelled–and not like delicious breakfast. We drove to a different place that was actually pretty good! The service was slow, but the food was good and inexpensive! Hooray for finding somewhere decent for bacon and eggs!
Later on, Anson & I went to Starbucks for our Valentine’s date. He ordered a cappuccino “IN A MUG, please.” I was like, what on earth is wrong with you? I was informed that it does not taste right in a paper cup, so if he can’t have it in a mug then he will have to order something else. (Coffee snob after living in Europe…) We sat and enjoyed our drinks and then in true romantic fashion, headed home to watch the new episode of The Walking Dead. Nothing says love like watching zombies eat people!
This post is beyond random, but that’s what happens when I forget to blog–all structure goes down the drain! I do have an honest confession though. I didn’t finish my book last month. Month one=total fail. I just couldn’t get into my book and I completely gave up. I didn’t even care that I gave up either, if I’m being extra honest!
Now that February is half way finished, I thought I should share the book I am currently reading. I decided to go the teen route since it seems my brain cannot function at adult reading level! Last year, my sister and I went to see a movie and we watched a trailer for a new teen movie coming out. The trailer finished and I said out loud (in a not so quiet voice) something like, “well, that just doesn’t seem to send a good message now, does it?!” Then we proceeded to die laughing–which is always appreciated in a quiet theatre. The movie was Paper Towns, based on the book by John Green. I decided to read the book to see if maybe I got the wrong impression from the trailer! I have never read anything by him and I refused to watch The Fault in Our Stars because a) it is sad and b) I don’t want to be sad on purpose. I am in the middle of reading Paper Towns and I know I won’t quit this one! Next week, I shall let you know all my thoughts on it!
Please tell me–how was your Valentine’s Day?
Do you like sad movies? (I really don’t mind sad movies, but if I know the basic plot and feel like I may cry the entire time; then, I have a hard time wanting to watch!)
